Collaborative learning is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves groups of learners working together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product. Collaborative learning is based on the idea that learning is a naturally social act in which the participants talk among themselves. It is through the talk that learning occurs.

Yours is a brief introduction to what cooperative learning is. Further discussion could involve the benefits of such an approach to teaching and learning.
Among other things, cooperative learning is found to be more in line with real-world problem solving scenarios. It encourages students to construct their 'learning' through active interaction. Students learn to consider each others' viewpoints and make judgements based on reasoning. They learn to work as a group, making compromises as necessary. This help improve their interpersonal skills. They learn to respect each other when critiquing their ideas. It also helps retention of the material learnt since it is much more interesting.
